Farewell Libby and travel back to the UK

The wind continued loudly overnight and into the morning. We all got up early and packed, found we had no hot water for showers and cleaned up the muesli before leaving the villa at 8:30am to head to the car rental return and the port for our fast ferry. Everyone in NZ started posting their Aurora photos which look spectacular about then so we enjoyed looking at these on the boat.

Above - top left expressing our feelings about leaving the Greek Islands with a final Selfie outside our bedroom door. Top right our Ferry. Bottom settled in for our short ride to Mykonos.

The boat came, we were a bit nervous as there was nobody else at the port until about 15 minutes before arrival then suddenly activity occurred. Loads more people got off than got on. We didn't need printed tickets and we didn't need individual ones either - Steve's ticket was scanned and he was asked how many in his party and we were waved on. This was a sea cat so airplane style seating, our tickets came with allocated seats but it wasn't full so we just found places to sit. It was rough. So rough they took a different line and said it was going to be late into Mykonos so 35 mins not 25 as scheduled.

Left - our final group selfie. Bottom right Paul quickly finding something in his bag at the airport. Bottom left was lovely to see the sites of London on the train from Gatwick north through the city.

Ferry successfully done we all bolted down the gangplank and Paul ran ahead to secure a large taxi for us, quick goodbye with Libby who is staying in Mykonos for a couple of nights before she heads off for the next 7 weeks of her holiday - sad to leave her but so excited for her to have a wonderful adventure.

Checkin at Ezijet was ok, our packs weighed 10kgs (mine) and 8kgs (his) so we checked them in - all the tea towels we have bought. Just to ensure we have a consistent experience travelling with Paul and Karen, Paul opened his bag on the floor of the airport. This has been happening over many years of travel which we find hilarious. Steve and I had to take our soft bags to oversized luggage so headed there then through security into the tiny departure lounge.

These pics - next time we come to London must travel on the new Elizabeth Line. Right side photos on the train. Left bottom in the cab.

A 3.5 hour flight followed by a 2 hour train ride, followed by a 30 minute taxi ride later and we were back in Milton Keynes! it is warm here but also 5pm UK time (7pm Greek time) so we have been travelling for nearly 11 hours so tired. Yummy Thai ordered and the cat suitably fussed over we were all falling asleep by 9pm. Not much to photograph today. Below - Karen walking the bags from their gates to the house, the taxi dropped us at the gates. A crow in the neighbours bird bath and these wonderful blue plants are covered in bees.
